Crow Wing County Sheriff Scott Goddard reports that around 1:37 p.m. on Monday, deputies responded to a call that a staff member from a school had gone underwater at Camp Northstar in Brainerd. The sheriff’s office said the staff member was with a group of students at a shelter over the weekend. A student on the team was able to extricate the staff member and first responders performed life-saving measures upon arrival. The 30-year-old Hutchinson man was reportedly taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. At this time the identity of the victim is revealed.
